i was brought up by towering trees,
aging elm with the ancient oaks,
streams of runoff rush through bentgrass pastures.
the milkweed bathes in dew,
wild violets flood fields undisturbed with carefree colors,
every day the finch warbles its song
while dawn wakes from slumber.
stretching her sunbeams,
in partnership with bird,
they remind us the world still breathes.
