BLOG SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Do you have a passion for the environment? Do you know some fun environmental facts? Do you have that one small assignment that you want to share with others? Well, Ginkgo Magazine wants to publish you on our blog! We’re looking for 300-1,000 word informational and conversational blog posts about anything involving the environment. In the past, Ginkgo Magazine’s blog has been written and edited in-house…until now! We are officially opening submissions to our blog, and you can learn more about the process and our requirements below.

Submission Guidelines
● Please send all submissions as attachments to theginkgomagazine@gmail.com, with “Blog Submission” as the subject line, or use the submission form on our website.
● Submissions must be paginated and in 12-pt. Times New Roman font. Please limit
submissions to 300-1,000 words. Each written submission should be a Microsoft Word
document.

● Please include a cover page with submission title, student’s name(s), graduation year, and email address.
● Works must be factually accurate; a list of sources is required. We will be working with our Environmental Consultant to fact-check all submissions. Works must not promote or glorify bigoted, homophobic, racist, sexist, ableist, or other overly harmful themes.
● Works must be defined as Environmental, Sustainability, or Naturalist Writing: “writing in which the environment is central to the theme of the piece, writing that approaches the environment through an activist lens, or writing that promotes and demonstrates environmental concerns, awareness, and sensitivities.”

PLEASE NOTE:
● Blog content is very different from the content we publish in our annual literary magazine. If we feel that your submitted content will fit better in our magazine, we will encourage you to submit it there (and vice versa).
● These blog posts are informational and educational, but the tone can lean more casual or conversational.
● Must be about environmental topics (can be local, national, or global).
● We mainly work with current events, but we are open to the occasional historical event as long as the author justifies in the writing why it is still relevant today.
● Remember, you are submitting your blog post for consideration, not guaranteed
publication. You will receive an acceptance or rejection within 12-20 business days.
