I Bleed Light Pollution

by: Jake Price

If I could wring the sunset

out of the sidewalk,

the rain would taste like blood.

The cement glows orange,

bright enough to

keep the streetlights from

turning on.

Pulling pieces of gravel

out of my knees and wrists.

My palms have always been

full of concrete.

I toss the wet, now red, little rocks

at the curb I tripped over.

I hope it stains.

The city underneath my skin is

bustling.
